Sell has top-of-the-order tools and a clear-cut center field profile thanks to his speed, contact ability and athleticism. He has a lean 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame and uses a short, direct and quick swing in the lefthanded batter’s box. He’s a pesky hitter who consistently turns in high-quality at-bats with a sound approach and contact skills that make him difficult to strike out. He was one of the better hitters at the 2024 Area Code Games and impressed evaluators when he slapped a 98 mph Seth Hernandez fastball through the shortstop hole for an opposite-field single. Sell is very much a hit-over-power offensive player who might never threaten 15 home runs a season. Instead, he’ll pressure defenses with his speed, use the entire field with low line drives and sharp contact and also be a consistent threat to bunt for a hit. He’s an easy plus runner who accelerates out of the box quickly and will turn in some 70-grade run times. That speed should allow him to stick in center field as an above-average defender and make him a menace on the bases. Sell has a solid arm and has some experience in the infield, though center field should be his long-term defensive home. Like all Stanford commits, Sell could be a tough sign out of high school.

Sell provides a good blend of hitting ability and athleticism. An aggressive hitter, Sell is able to consistently barrel fastballs and high-end velocity for his age, using a simple lower half load with quiet hands in a compact lefthanded swing. It’s a short, direct path that creates a high contact rate and a hit-over-power profile. That contact as an underclassmen was often for low line drives in games, though in 2024 he began driving the ball in the air for more extra-base damage. Sell’s plus speed gives him another asset to help him get on base. He has experience both in the infield and outfield, with center field or second base potential fits in pro ball, and his defensive instincts in center field stand out already.
