Becker is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound shortstop and righthanded hitter with a well-rounded game who comes from a talented baseball family. His father, Jeff, played baseball at Duke and then two years with Cleveland’s minor league system. His older brother, Eric, is a shortstop at Virginia and one of the better prospects in the 2026 college class. Nick is one of the top prospects from the Northeast in the 2025 class and boasts a clean swing and a chance for an above-average hit tool. He works with a slightly open stance in the box and has good rhythm and an advanced understanding of the zone that allows him to work counts, spit on pitches off the plate and consistently get on plane with lots of hard contact. He’s more of a line-drive contact hitter now, though he does have the sort of physical projection to dream on average game power at physical maturity. Becker is a plus runner who clocked a 6.65 second 60-yard dash at the 2024 East Coast Pro showcase. He has the tools to stick at shortstop with solid actions, footwork and average arm strength that should at least allow him to start at the position at the next level. He profiles as more of a steady, reliable defender than a flashy one. Becker is committed to Virginia, but could get picked in the first three rounds.
