Track Record: Ramirez signed for $75,000 out of Venezuela during the 2021 international signing period. He debuted in the Dominican Summer League later in 2021 and came stateside in 2022. He dominated each level of Rookie ball, posting lines 50% better than the average player at each stop. Ramirez spent full seasons at each Class A level over the last two years. In 2024, he hit .284/.348/.381 with an 18.1% strikeout rate in his age-20 season with High-A South Bend.
Scouting Report: A short, compact and strong switch-hitting middle-infielder, Ramirez has a contact-oriented swing from the left side of the plate. Ramirez shows above-average bat-to-ball skills and is particularly adept at hitting breaking balls and offspeed. He struggles some with above-average fastball velocity, but overall handles fastballs well enough. While Ramirez’s swing and approach isn’t conducive for power hitting, his exit velocity data hints at more power to come. Ramirez’s 103.2 mph 90th percentile exit velocity and 109.8 mph max exit velocity are both above-average for age and level. An above-average runner, Ramirez isn’t a great basestealer but clocks 55-grade home-to-first times. Ramirez was an average defender in 2024 who showed marked improvement year over year. He saw time at second base, third base and left field in 2024.
The Future: Ramirez is a switch-hitting utility infielder with some remaining power projection. He’ll likely spend most of 2025 in Double-A before he faces a Rule 5 protection decision after the season.

BA Grade: 45/Very High
Track Record: Ramirez signed with the Cubs for $75,000 out of Venezuela and had immediate success as a top hitter in the DSL and Arizona Complex League. He hit his first speed bump in 2023 at Low-A Myrtle Beach and was demoted to extended spring training in mid-May, but he later returned to the Pelicans with renewed confidence and hit .288/.390/.460 the rest of the season.
Scouting Report: Ramirez is a polished switch-hitter with an advanced feel for hitting. He’s a patient hitter with excellent strike-zone discipline and puts a short, fast swing on balls when he gets a pitch to hit. Ramirez is stronger batting lefthanded than righthanded, but he makes contact from both sides of the plate and has a chance to be an above-average hitter. He has started swinging harder to make more impactful contact and has a chance to reach 10-12 home runs. Ramirez is an above-average runner with average range and body control at second base and projects to be an average defender. He began playing third base but needs to improve his fringe-average arm strength to project there.
The Future: Ramirez’s pure hitting ability gives him a path to the majors as a switch-hitting infielder. He’ll head to High-A South Bend in 2024.

Track Record: Ramirez trained in the same program as fellow Cubs prospect Moises Ballesteros and signed with the Cubs for $75,000 on the first day of the 2021 international signing period. He made a loud first impression by leading the Dominican Summer League in hits in his pro debut and continued to impress stateside in 2022. Ramirez finished fifth in the Arizona Complex League with a .329 batting average and third with a .940 OPS, earning a late promotion to Low-A Myrtle Beach.
Scouting Report: Ramirez is a polished switch-hitter advanced beyond his years. He sits deep in his stance and makes consistent contact with a short, fast swing and excellent barrel control. He covers the entire plate, has exceptional natural timing and puts together competitive at-bats from both sides of the plate. Ramirez mostly hits soft line drives and doesn't have much projection left, but his approach and feel for the barrel give him a chance to be an above-average hitter who runs into 10-12 home runs. Ramirez has good body control and is an average defender at second base. He is a plus runner and has the range for shortstop, but his fringy arm fits better at the keystone.
The Future: Opposing teams frequently ask about Ramirez in trade discussions. He has a chance to be a switch-hitting, everyday second baseman if he gets stronger.
Scouting Grades: Hit: 55. Power: 40. Speed: 60. Fielding: 50. Arm: 45.
