After Payton Tolle’s latest standout outing, the Red Sox have apparently seen all they needed from their 2024 second-rounder in Greenville. Boston is promoting Tolle–as well as RoboScout favorite Eduardo Rivera–to Double-A Portland, according to Josh Ball of Beyond The Monster. Tolle was quite impressive this year in High-A, posting a 3.62 ERA and 79 strikeouts over 49.2 innings to just 14 walks. The 6-foot-6 lefty is one of the bigger rising pitching prospects across the sport, overwhelming hitters with a mid-90s heater from massive extension and jumping onto Baseball America’s Top 100 in the process. Now, he’ll get his first taste of the upper minors in his debut professional season.
