Bryce Eldridge’s disjointed season has hit another frustrating stretch. The Giants’ top prospect is dealing with a right hamstring strain that will sideline him for at least 3-4 weeks, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic. Eldridge, who ranks No. 19 on Baseball America’s Top 100, suffered the injury legging out a double on Saturday for Triple-A Sacramento.

Eldridge’s season debut was delayed until late April while he dealt with a wrist injury this spring and it took him a bit to get rolling. The 20-year-old slashed .263/.329/.484 with 10 homers over 50 games between Double-A Richmond and Triple-A. Eldridge’s preseason report noted he was a candidate to reach the majors at some point this season if things went well, but between his injury troubles and the arrival of Rafael Devers to the Giants’ first base and DH mix, Eldridge’s path to making a meaningful contribution in the majors this year has gotten a bit murkier.
