Chase Burns Dazzles In Reds Debut

In a year full of high-profile debuts from pitchers with unfair arsenals, Chase Burns’ first big league turn was high on the list of the most anticipated outings of the season. The lightning-armed righthander—who was the No. 2 overall pick a summer ago—leapt through the gates early at home against the Yankees. He struck out the side in the first inning and punched out six of the first seven hitters he faced. New York got to him for three runs in the fourth inning—including a home run from Ben Rice—but otherwise Burns was as advertised. He finished with eight strikeouts over five three-run frames. After one start, it looks like he’ll give Cincinnati’s roster another cornerstone.
