Even though he came up on the losing end of a battle with Nationals fireballer Travis Sykora, Yankees prospect Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz added yet another stellar start in what has been an excellent season. The righthander—who came to New York in the trade that sent catcher Carlos Narvaez to Boston—finished his day with seven strikeouts over six one-run innings. In doing so, Rodriguez-Cruz ran his season strikeout total to 85 in 72 innings. He’s been especially tremendous in June. Over four starts this month, he’s allowed two earned runs in 24 frames and has struck out 28 hitters and issued eight walks.
