Track Record: Stanifer signed for $125,000 as an Indiana prep pick in the 19th round of the 2022 draft. After spending 2023 in the Florida Complex League before making 19 appearances for Low-A Dunedin in 2024, Stanifer broke out in a big way in 2025. Stanifer spent the first seven weeks of 2025 working as a piggy-backed starter in tandem with 2024 first-round pick Trey Yesavage. He was promoted to High-A Vancouver alongside Yesavage on May 19.
Scouting Report: Standing 6-foot-3 with a lean and prototypical build, Stanifer throws exclusively from the stretch, mixing two fastball shapes in a slider and changeup. He delivers the ball from a high three-quarters arm slot and generates outstanding ride on his four-seam fastball with 17-20 inches of induced vertical break. His two-seam fastball generates heavier armside run than his four-seam, with both sitting 94-96 mph. Stanifer’s slider is a ‘deathball’ style curveball sitting in the mid 80s with more drop than sweep. The changeup is a clear third pitch, but he does show the ability to kill lift while flashing heavy armside run. Stanifer shows fringy command of his arsenal leading to higher-than-acceptable walk rates.
The Future: Stanifer is teetering between a future as a starter and reliever. Due to the nature of his mechanics and his fringe command, will likely end up in the bullpen long term.
