Bodine is a pest to pitchers. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound switch-hitting catcher rarely chases pitches, and it’s also almost impossible to beat him within it. He’s hit well over .300 in all three seasons at Coastal Carolina, hit .318/.454/.461 through 67 games as a junior and also hit .384 in the Cape Cod League in 2023. Bodine has walked more than he has struck out, and both his overall contact (89%) and in-zone contact (94%) rates are some of the best in the country. Bodine has excellent plate coverage with a simple, level stroke from both sides of the plate. While he has exceptional barrel control and contact skills, his modest power has largely evaporated. After hitting 11 home runs as a freshman and nine as a sophomore, Bodine had just five as a junior. He shows below-average raw power and, even with a metal bat, rarely stings the ball. Defensively, he’s a solid receiver with soft, quick hands and good receiving mechanics that many scouts view at the top of the class. Bodine has a fringy arm, but he makes up for it with anticipation, a quick exchange and throwing accuracy. He can get to average pop times regularly with throws that are usually on the bag but often arrive on one hop. Bodine’s contact ability and defensive chops could clear a path to a long pro career, but he’ll need more power and arm strength to develop into a major leaguer with upside. He fits in the back of the first round or shortly afterward.

Bodine is one of the best pure hitters in the 2025 class. In 2024 he hit .328/.411/.523 with 29 extra-base hits and a 23:31 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He has a relaxed setup in the box with a moderately high leg kick and noticeable barrel tip. From the right side, his barrel tip is a bit less pronounced, his leg kick is not as high, and there is some quickness in his hands. Bodine has an advanced feel for the barrel, and his bat-to-ball skills are some of the best in the college ranks. He rarely missed pitches in the zone as a freshman, especially fastballs. At 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, Bodine has the prototypical build for a catcher. He is a well-rounded defender who receives well with soft hands, does a great job of corralling balls in the dirt and has an above-average and accurate arm. He threw out 31% of base stealers as a freshman in the Cape Cod League in 2023.
