  Bremner pairs some of the best control in the 2025 draft class with high-end stuff and a strong three-year track record with UC Santa Barbara. He cemented himself as one of the premier arms in the class after a lights-out 2024 season and a summer with USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team and entered the 2025 spring neck and neck with Florida State’s Jamie Arnold in the race for starting pitcher No. 1 in the class. Bremner scuffled a bit early but finished the year strong—including six 10+ strikeout games in his last seven—and posted a 3.49 ERA with a 29.7 K-BB% that was good for No. 6 among all Division I arms. Bremner has a lean pitcher’s frame at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds and throws with a simple delivery that features a high leg kick and a three-quarters arm slot. His three-pitch mix is led by a fastball that averages 94-96 mph and will touch 98 with underlying qualities that could allow it to play up. The pitch has a loud overall movement profile—both with riding life and armside movement—a flat approach angle and generated a strong 33% miss rate in 2025. The centerpiece of Bremner’s arsenal is his double-plus, mid-80s changeup. It’s a high-usage, wipeout secondary he can locate effectively to both lefties and righties repeatedly to generate whiffs and weak contact. Bremner’s mid-80s slider flashes above-average, but the pitch backed up and was hit hard in 2025. He’s a plus control pitcher and high-probability starter who fits in the first round.

  Bremner cemented himself as one of the premier arms in the country in 2024, when he posted a 2.54 ERA with 104 strikeouts to just 21 walks in 88.2 innings for UC Santa Barbara. Bremner has an easy, under control operation with present arm speed. He attacks hitters from a high three-quarters slot and his fastball sits in the 93-96 mph range while topping out at 98. It has big-time run and ride, and is most effective when located in the top half of the zone. His fastball’s velocity and shape makes it a plus pitch. He boasts two quality secondary offerings in a mid-80s changeup and low-80s slider. Bremner’s changeup is the more polished of the two and earns 70-grade reviews, but his slider has consistently flashed plus. In 2024, Bremner’s changeup generated an impressive 46% miss rate. He has advanced feel for the offering and will throw it to both left and righthanded hitters. The change plays well off his mid-90s fastball and flashes late tumbling life. Bremner’s slider features ample late sweeping life, as well as some depth, and is a real weapon against righthanded hitters. Bremner profiles as a starter on the strength of his plus control, low-effort delivery and chance for three plus pitches. He has a chance to be the first arm off the board.

  Bremner emerged as the top prep prospect this year in talent-rich San Diego. He was a riser early in the season before his stuff suddenly backed up, but he rediscovered his best stuff at the end of the year to re-establish himself as a top draft prospect. Bremner is one of the youngest pitchers in the class and will have just turned 18 on draft day. He has a projectable 6-foot-2 frame with plenty of room to get stronger. At its best, Bremner’s fastball sits 92-94 mph with arm-side run and gets on hitters faster than they expect because of the elite extension he generates out of his delivery. His primary secondary pitch is an average changeup and his low-70s curveball is a below-average pitch he is working to improve. Bremner flashes promising stuff, but he also has outings where his fastball drops to 87-88 mph and his curveball comes in at 67-69 mph. He is not particularly physical and needs to make significant strength gains to better hold his stuff over the course of the season. Bremner dots the strike zone with plus control at any velocity and gets plenty of whiffs. He is committed to UC Santa Barbara and has a chance to be a high pick in three years if he makes it to campus.
