The Nationals are promoting righthander Travis Sykora to Double-A Harrisburg after the 21-year-old thoroughly dominated the competition in six starts for High-A Wilmington. He struck out 44.3% of South Atlantic League batters and walked 7.5% to go with a 1.21 ERA over 29.2 innings. The Nationals drafted Sykora out of Round Rock (Texas) High in the third round in 2023. In his full-season debut last year, he led all Low-A pitchers with 129 strikeouts. This year, Sykora got a late start after having hip surgery in the offseason. That delayed his 2025 debut to May 3, but it certainly didn’t slow him.
