Texas A&M has landed its biggest commitment so far in this year’s portal cycle.

Late Thursday night, Chris Hacopian, the fourth-ranked player in Baseball America’s 2025 transfer portal rankings, announced his commitment to head coach Michael Earley and the Aggies. Hacopian is fresh off a career year with Maryland in which he hit .375/.502/.656 with 12 doubles, 14 home runs, 61 RBIs and an eye-popping walk-to-strikeout ratio of 40-to-19.

Hacopian has a strong swing with big-time bat speed and has shown the ability to use the entire field, though his highest quality of contact comes to the pull side. He particularly feasts on heaters, and this spring he ran a 95% contact rate against all fastballs. Hacopian ran an overall chase rate of just 20% ,and very few of his swings came outside of the “shadow zone.”

Hacopian next year will anchor the left side of the infield along with rising junior Gavin Grahovac, who was limited to just six games this spring due to injury. Along with Grahovac and Hacopian, the Aggies will have a dynamic outfield that includes star sophomore Caden Sorrell (.337/.430/.789) and Terrence Kiel II (.294/.388/.388).

It’s no secret that next year is a big one in College Station, but the pieces are starting to come together for Earley and company to accomplish exactly that.
