Baseball America’s new rankings of the top high school players in the 2027 class are here.

With the summer circuit underway, the top players in the country are separating themselves as prospects to watch for the 2027 MLB Draft. The 2027 class is a high priority for top college programs, who can contact potential recruits beginning on Aug. 1.

There’s a new No. 1 player in the nation, with shortstop Dylan Seward jumping from No. 9 to the top of the list. Seward brings advanced hitting ability from both sides of the plate, elite speed and smooth defensive actions along with high-level instincts that are evident in all facets of the game. Typical of most years for this age group, it’s heavy on position players at the top of the list, but the 2027 class is well stocked with high-end pitching.

While some players in the 2027 class already have a college commitment made before the NCAA rule changes prohibiting contact until Aug. 1, the majority of the top players in the country are uncommitted. TCU is one early standout on the recruiting trail with three commits ranked among the top 50, but the competition for most of the best 2027 players remains open.

While 2027 feels like a lifetime away, we’re at the point in the college season where there’s enough of a sample size to make an initial attempt at sizing up the true freshmen with a ranking of the top 50 college players in the 2027 MLB Draft class.

It’s important to keep in mind that this ranking is going to change and expand a lot over the next two-plus years. In the meantime, you’ll find our complete ranking of the top 50 college players for 2027 below, featuring updated individual scouting reports for each player.

2026 Top College Draft Prospects

The 2026 draft cycle doesn’t begin for another six months, but here at Baseball America, we’re presenting the latest iteration of our ranking for the top 100 college players in the class.

Our updated ranking, which is topped by talented Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron, figures to change over the course of the next 18 months. As time goes on, players will play their way into—or out of—the list, but for now, here’s how we stack up the top players in the class.

LSU leads all schools with five players ranked, while Wake Forest, Arkansas, Florida State, TCU and Oklahoma have four each.

2026 Top High School Draft Prospects

The summer travel circuit is here. So are Baseball America’s new rankings of the top 200 players in the 2026 high school class.

The 2026 class is one of the most talented high school groups we have seen in recent years, on par with the loaded 2023 class. There’s a mix of both high-end talent at the top and depth, headlined by shortstops Grady Emerson and Jacob Lombard at the top of the list.

Emerson is a Texas commit, and while he projects as a first-round pick, he’s one of several premium recruits in a stacked recruiting class for the Longhorns. Vanderbilt is well represented on the list, as well, with a blend of potential impact position players and a deep group of projectable pitchers committed in another talented recruiting class.

Here are the top prospects in the class of 2026 with scouting reports on all 200 players.

2025 College Top 100 Draft Prospects

With the start of the college baseball season finally upon us, Baseball America presents a brand new update to our top 100 college rankings for the 2025 class.

Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette continues to lead the class and is in the early conversation for 1-1 in the draft thanks to his high-end athleticism and massive power potential.

As has been the case all offseason, UC Santa Barbara righthander Tyler Bremner and Florida State lefthander Jamie Arnold are in contention for top arm in the class, while Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella and North Carolina catcher Luke Stevenson round out the top five.

2025 High School Top 100 Draft Prospects

With the bulk of the 2024 showcase circuit behind us, it’s time to update our rankings of the top 100 high school players in the 2025 class.

The depth and top-end talent of the 2025 prep class remains strong, and there’s plenty of upside distributed through both the hitting and pitching ranks of the class. Shortstop Ethan Holliday continues to lead the prep class at No. 1 overall, though righthander Seth Hernandez, third baseman Xavier Neyens and lefthander/first baseman Kruz Schoolcraft aren’t too far behind.

LSU leads all colleges with 12 commits from the top 100 players in the class, including five players ranked among the top 30: SS Brady Ebel, OF Dean Moss, OF Quentin Young, RHP River Hamilton and C Omar Serna. Texas checks in next with eight commits, followed by Vanderbilt with seven and Wake Forest and Virginia both tied with five apiece.

Three players on the list remain uncommitted, led by former 2026 class member Kruz Schoolcraft, a 6-foot-8 two-way player with real upside as a pitcher and hitter who could easily go in the first round next summer.

California leads all states with 17 players—including four players from Corona High—followed by Texas with 11, Florida with seven, Georgia with six and both North Carolina and Mississippi with five.

Baseball America’s draft rankings are an attempt to capture the industry’s consensus on the talent of the 2025 draft class. The list is compiled in consultation with MLB scouts, front office executives, scouting directors, college coaches and other professional evaluators. Ben Badler, J.J. Cooper, Peter Flaherty, Tom Lipari, Bill Mitchell, Jacob Rudner and Carlos Collazo contributed to the reporting and writing of the list and reports.

Baseball America presents the June update to our ranking of the top 2025 MLB Draft prospects.

The 2025 draft class has been a puzzle for teams to figure out.

It’s a deep group, but one that lacks much separation at the very top of the class. In particular, scouts have lamented the quality of the highest-caliber college hitters in the class, which is a demographic that every team is typically excited about with their earliest picks. That doesn’t mean the 2025 draft class is not strong—it’s simply not top-heavy in the least-risky demographic.

The high school hitting talent of the class stands out, led by Oklahoma shortstop Ethan Holliday, who boasts one of the loudest packages of hitting ability and power in the class. Other notable prep names include California righthander Seth Hernandez and Oklahoma shortstop Eli Willits, who round out the top three.

The top-end college arms are more impressive than their hitting peers. LSU lefthander Kade Anderson overtook a strong group of college arms by consistently putting together high-quality starts throughout the season. It’s hard to separate a top tier pitching group that also includes FSU lefthander Jamie Arnold, Oklahoma righthander Kyson Witherspoon and Tennessee lefthander Liam Doyle.

The college hitting crop is led by Oregon State shortstop Aiva Arquette—the lone college bat to rank inside the top 10.

Tennessee and LSU lead all colleges with 10 players ranked on the BA 500. On the high school side, Corona High in California leads all teams with four ranked players. The program has a chance to set the all-time record for highest high school duo and trio drafted.

Prior to draft day all players will receive updated reports to reflect their full 2025 spring seasons. We will also update and expand BA grades and projected tool grades.

2025 Top 100 Prospects

The Baseball America Top 100 Prospects rankings are our 36th edition of our flagship prospect ranking. We view this ranking as the culmination of all of our work all year, as we attempt to show how prospects are perceived by the industry right now, as well as project who will produce in the future.

After a significant update in May, we’ve continued to update the Top 100 for graduations. Now, as we do every month in-season, we’re back with a full re-evaluation for June, resulting in a number of new additions, drop-offs, risers and fallers.

To report the list, we have discussions with MLB scouts, coaches, analysts and front office officials. We also see players in person and utilize as much data as we can get our hands on. It also relies on all the reporting we did to produce our Top 30 Prospects rankings online, as well as the Baseball America Prospect Handbook.

Players are eligible if they have not exceeded 130 MLB at-bats, 50 innings pitched or 30 pitching appearances. Service time does not play a role in whether players are eligible for this ranking. Players who come to the U.S. as “foreign professionals” as defined by the MLB CBA are not eligible to be ranked.

Players in the Top 100 Prospects list are ranked for their long-term MLB impact, with allowances for the risk that they will fall short of that ceiling. The tools grades listed for each player are all future grades of what we project them to be in the best stretch of their big league careers.

2024 College Top 100 Draft Prospects

With the Division I college baseball season returning, here are the Top 100 draft prospects in the college ranks in 2024.

This year’s class has less clear-cut consensus at the top to begin the year and features several candidates who could emerge as the potential No. 1 overall pick in the draft. That sets us up for a potentially very intriguing spring depending on how some of the top names fare.

LSU leads all schools with seven players ranked in the Top 100, headlined by star 3B Tommy White. Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Tennessee are also well-represented on the list.
