While Chase Burns’ electric debut made waves early in the evening, he was far from the only 2024 first-rounder to make a significant impact on Tuesday night. Christian Moore, the eighth pick in last year’s draft, authored the best moment of his brief big league career so far, powering the Angels to a 3-2 win over the Red Sox in extras. Moore hit the game-tying home run in the eighth inning, then hit a two-run walk-off shot to beat Boston in the 10th. Moore’s outburst came exactly one year to the day after he helped Tennessee win the 2024 national championship. He has since sped to the big leagues, and while it has been an adjustment period for the infielder, who is now hitting .194 with three homers, Tuesday was certainly a bright spot.
