Young is a high-end athlete with a loud combination of physicality and tools. He stands 6-foot-5, 215 pounds and creates monstrous raw power with great strength, bat speed and leverage in his righthanded swing. While Young has great power potential, his track record introduces concern about how much contact he will make. His swing features plenty of moving parts with a significant barrel tip and hand hitch in his load, and he swung and missed at a high rate against all pitch types during the 2024 showcase circuit. This spring, scouts noted that he was doing a better job making contact and tapping into his power. Young is an above-average runner who moves well for his size but should slide from shortstop to either third base or an outfield corner in pro ball. He has one of the better arms in the class—a 70-grade missile launcher that would be an asset at third base or in right field—but his actions aren’t quick and crisp enough for shortstop. Young was originally a member of the 2026 class, but he reclassified for this draft in September 2023. He’s the nephew of former big leaguers Delmon and Dmitri Young. While he’s committed to LSU, Young’s power upside is enough to help him go in the first two rounds.

Young was one of the top players for 2026 before he reclassified into the 2025 class in September 2023. At 6-foot-5, he’s a physically imposing righthanded hitter with raw power that stacks up with anyone in the prep class. A nephew of former big leaguers Delmon and Dmitri Young, he starts his swing with a barrel tip toward the pitcher and takes a leg kick into a violent swing with vicious bat speed. It’s an aggressive approach and swing that generates a lot of torque to produce plus raw power that should be a plus-plus tool in the future in a power-over-hit offensive profile. Young has spent time in the infield and the outfield. He has a plus-plus arm and could potentially fit at either third base or in right field.
